Teatime x Maple & Market

Cassia cake |  Applesauce | Cinnamon | Stroop waffles | Cream cheese frosting

Peanut Butter Chocolate cake | Chocolate | Peanut butter Cream cheese frosting

Tucked in a quiet corner of a HDB block, this humble cafe not only serves yummy bakes but occasionally teaches baking to the public as well. I love that the small space is adorned with fresh flowers and boasts a shelf of baking reads! It is a pity that their signature maple bacon cupcake was out of stock when I visited the cafe.

Maybe it is time to head back?

Breakfast x French toast by Sky57

french toast

It was warm, thick and golden, and fluffy on the inside. The vanilla cream and raspberry jam complemented the lovely slices of French Toast perfectly. I must say, to be able to wake up to this was simply brilliant.

If anyone has a recipe for good fluffy French toast, I need to be enlightened!

Lunch x Hari Raya

(Left to Right) Ikan (Fish) | Lontong (Vegetable stew) | Udang Mak Besar (Prawn Curry) | Ayam Goreng (Fried Chicken)

(Left to Right)  Sambal Udang (Prawn with chilli paste) | Sambal Goreng (Tofu and tempeh)| Sambal Belacan (Chilli) | Ketupat (Rice cakes) | Biryani (Not featured)

Generosity X Hospitality. The two things that were evident while visiting for Hari Raya celebrations. Even their detail to the table presentation and their spread of food really shows a lot. But the main draw is the spicy sambal belacan! But be warned, it is not for the faint hearted!

Having spent the past few years reaching out to the Queenstown/Henderson district, it’s nice to know that there is a cafe out there making a difference (read their brilliant story here.). Sure, S(he)brews doesn’t serve the best coffee I have tasted so far but the atmosphere, the servers and the overall setting is perfect for one such as myself.
